ASC Infection Prevention and & Control Written Program Assistance
Pennsylvania ambulatory surgery centers applying for licensure from the Department of Acute and Ambulatory Care (DAAC) are required to provide a comprehensive written infection prevention and control written program for submission to the P.A. Department of Health prior to becoming licensed. This requirement applies to new facilities as well as existing facilities applying for a new license due to adding services or other reasons.
DAAC requires ASCs to develop a program based on the P.A. Bureau of Epidemiology's Healthcare-Associated Infection Prevention (HAI) Division requirements that include many components. ASCs in Pennsylvania have generally found it exceptionally difficult to conform to the requirements and often experience many months of delayed approval of their plans. Staff often have little time to address these demands and may lack the in-depth infection control and prevention experience required to better ensure compliance and program approval.
Infection Control Consulting Services (ICCS), led by President Phenelle Segal, RN, CIC, FAPIC, has extensive experience working closely with Pennsylvania-based ASCs to assist with the development of these plans and has been highly successful in aiding clients with achieving approval.
If your facility is required to submit a plan and would like assistance from ICCS, Phenelle will be happy to discuss your situation with you. She can be reached by filling out the form on this page, emailing info@iccs-home.com or calling (215) 692-3485.
